School

School started last Monday and I feel like I have been teaching for a month already. My kids are interesting this year... VERY different from last year. I really hate the first two weeks of school because there are no routines, the kids still act like they are in kindergarten, and we really don't get into the curriculum until next week. It is a borning/stressful part of the year. I can't wait until I have the station rotations set up and the kids can act and think for themselves. Hopefully that will be soon!

I have a student teacher (the same one from last semester) and she has been WONDERFUL! She takes over for me when my feet start hurting and I have to sit down. She has starting teaching math this week and she is doing a great job! She will begin teaching science next week and we will add on a subject until she is full teaching in my classroom. It's going to be really hard on me when she leaves though! It's amazing how quickly you get used to having the extra help in your room. It's like I have a full time aid :-) In good news though...she is going to be my long term sub when I'm out for 12 weeks with Addi. This is wonderful because she will already know my kids, the routines of the classroom, the school...pretty much everything there is to know! It takes a huge weight off my shoulders knowing that I won't have to train someone on everything before I leave. YAY!! And I know that when I come back my students will have learned a lot and will be ready to move on!

I can't wait until I can start to decorate Addi's room. I really want to start cleaning and getting it ready, but we don't have the furniture yet. My mom is coming in the end of October and we will buy all of it then. Only 72 more days until Christmas break/my last day of teaching for 3 months and then all I have to do is focus on her and Michael. I can't wait to be a mommy!!

Well...I have to finish getting ready for my girls night out (well...in actually). Bye for now!!!

20 Weeks

Ok...so I'm a little late with posting the 20 weeks picture (because I will be 21 weeks tomorrow). Oh well...better late then never!

I can't believe how big my belly has gotten! I know I have a lot more growing to do...but I still can't believe it. I can feel Addi kicking a lot more every day!!! It is a really weird feeling, but I enjoy feeling her.

School has been crazy and I'm tired! Maybe I will update about school later.

Bye for now!

Thoughts

Today we got a phone call from Michael's mom telling us that his Pa-paw went to the hospital last night due to heart failure. We went to see him today and he is alert and talking, which is a good sign! He is probably going to have to get a pace maker though pretty soon. I will keep you all up dated on his condition.

Today really got me thinking. It's really important to me (and for Michael) that Addi gets to meet at least one set of her great grandparents. Grandmother and Pa-paw have been like grandparents to me for the past couple of years and I got REALLY sad thinking about my own grandparents. I really only remember my mom's dad and I miss him a lot. That's why having Michael's grandparents have meant so much to me. I love listening to their stories about their lives and how they met, what life was like when they were first married and started their family. I wish SO much that I could have those conversations with my own grandparents. There are so many things that I wish I could have asked my grandpa...what my grandma was like, what it felt like watching my mom have and raise children, and any advice he could share with me.

It also made me feel very lucky to have my mom supporting me through this wonderful part in my life (even if she is in Florida). I can't even put into words how happy I am that my mom will be here for me. It must have been so hard for her to raise my brothers and me without being able to call her mom when she was frustrated, or scared, or just someone to say you are doing a great job. My mom is a very strong woman and I only hope to be half the mother that she was to me for Addi.

I think my hormones are on high today. Sorry for the depressing blog but I had to get it off my chest.

Sonogram <3

So we had our sonogram and we are having a girl!!! Addison Lee Vick is due January 8, 2010. Looking at the sonogram was the most amazing thing ever. We saw all of her parts and they all look good (so the doctor says). We even got a picture of her sucking her thumb! So awesome!!!

I am starting to feel her move more and more. Michael jokes around saying that we have a soccer player in my tummy. He has not gotten to feel her yet, which makes him sad, but he will soon enough.

Here are the baby bump pictures for the past two weeks:

Week 17

Week 18

We also got a new car last Saturday. I cried like a baby when I had to say good bye to my Slug Bug...but I hope one day I can get another bright yellow Beetle! Here are some pictures of the cars:

P.S. Posting pictures on this is not easy!!!! I hope they all turn out in the right order :-)

Florida Trip and more!

It has been a while since my last post and Michael is in class tonight so I thought this would be a great time to update!

Last week, Michael and I went to Florida to visit my parents (which was awesome!!) We had so much fun. It was nice to sit around and not do/think about ANYTHING! My mom and I watched a lot of NCIS, which has become one of my new favorite shows. It was just nice being able to spend time with my parents. I saw them a lot over the past month and now I won't see them again until the end of October :-(

Michael and I went to Disney World on July 31 and stayed in a really nice hotel room at the Contemporary Hotel for half the price of a regular room thanks to Expedia.com. It was HUGE! There were two sinks, a living room, two showers, two patios, and a huge king size bed. We spend pretty much the entire day on Friday in 3 of the 4 parks. After check-in, we went to Hollywood Studios and had a cobb salad from the Brown Durby. We then did the backlot tour and went to see the most amazing stunt show (which consisted of high speed cars, motorcycles, and jetskiis) We then headed back to the hotel for a little nap and then went to Epcot. We went on Elen's ride and then we waited 85 minutes to ride Soarin'... it was worth EVERY minute. It felt like you were hang gliding. We then went to get dinner (at 9:30 pm) and headed to the Magic Kingdom. We stayed there until 1:30 am and then called it a night.

It was an amazing last trip before the baby is born. However, it was Peanut's first trip to Disney World :-)

Overall, the trip to Florida was amazing and I am so glad that we got to go. It is nice being home because we get to enjoy our new carpet...which is truly awesome. It is so comfy that the cats actually lay and sleep on it like it's their bed.

Pregnancy news-- 17 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Peanut is the size of an onion this week. He/she is 5 ounces and 5 inches long. I am starting to notice more pressure in my lower abdomen, but that seems normal considering what's going on in there. My belly is getting bigger everyday. It is finally starting to shape into a pregnant belly and not just a fat belly. I am feeling pretty good, however my headaches had gotten worse. I pretty much get one everyday, but all of these pains are going to be well worth it in January. Michael and I are getting SO excited.

I had a dream the other night that I was cuddling and feeding our baby. It was the most amazing dream I have ever had. I know that this time in my life will be really stressful and full of sleepless nights, but it is all worth it.

Well, time to relax. Bye for now :-)
